19.0.96 (12/17/2013)

1. Faster: Pushing enter in the search box will execute the search immediately (previously it would execute the search but the view would update a second time shortly after, making it slower overall instead of faster).
2. Changed: Pushing tab in the search box will auto-select the first suggestion.
3. Changed: The search system adjusts how instantly the search is evaluated based on view size and performance so fast computers or smaller libraries update almost instantly, but slower computers and larger libraries wait to avoid lag from partial searches (use enter in those cases to update immediately).
4. Changed: Tightened up television time-shifting writer code, to prevent seeking problems.
5. Faster: The program is more responsive when many tabs are open.
6. Fixed: ASIO line-in playback could crash.

19.0.95 (12/16/2013)

1. Fixed: Column header clicking to sort file lists was not working in build 94.
2. Faster: Typing in the search box with large libraries is more responsive.
3. Changed: The month value for a file in the library with a date that is year-only will be an empty string instead of January.
4. Faster: The media type field no longer changes an empty media type to 'Unknown' at display time (it imparted a small performance penalty for no real-world benefit).
5. Faster: Improved search performance in the month field (which was one of the more intensive default search fields so the overall performance gain is appreciable).
6. Faster: Gets on the filename field are around 20% faster.
7. Changed: Album Artist is no longer included when offering search suggestions (since it often duplicates artist, and even when it doesn't normally doesn't contain a useful search value).

1. Fixed: Playing a television recording that had not finished recording did not work in some cases since build 91.
2. Changed: While playing a television recording that has not finished recording, pressing number keys will no long show OSD message "Changing channel..." since channel changing would not take place in this case anyway.
3. Changed: Pressing Enter key right after pressing number keys (for television channel changing) will cause channel changing to take effect immediately (without the Enter key, channel changing takes effect on a timer).
4. Fixed: A crash caused by clicking on an undefined field in the database list header above the vertical scroll bar.

1. Fixed: The ordering of television channels within a channel group was not honored.

1. Fixed: Watching a currently recording television channel could in some cases interrupt the recording, when channel substitution was involved (if channel grouping was set up).
2. Changed: When playback fails to start because the output will not accept the format, the bitdepth is no longer listed on the message (since the bitdepth is auto-configured for most outputs).

4. Fixed: MC could load a new tuner when watching a television channel that is currently being recorded, instead of the tuner that is doing the recording. (Only if Channel grouping is involved).

2. Fixed: When a DLNA device goes away and comes back on a different port or address, the old address could still be used.
3. Changed: The DLNA server will not expose itself on the network unless the library has files in it.
4. Fixed: DLNA would not always expose zones as DLNA renderers on first launch or when adding or removing a zone.
5. Changed: DLNA subscription requests from Windows Media are ignored (because they always return a 400 error when sending standard UPnP event information anyway).
6. NEW: The list of articles in the program is user configurable in Options > Tree & View > Sorting (semi-colon delimited list).
7. NEW: Exceptions to articles can be added[ by starting an entry with - (example: ...;les;-les paul;... so that Les Pecheurs de Perle > P and Les Paul > L).

After this zone switching focus bug was solved:

This problem appeared:

Starting mc. It starts with standard zone in theater view and playing now in standard view. Switch to an other zone in theater view, and then switch view to standard view. Then you will see that switching to standard view returns mc back to the zone on startup.

That's the reason, why i was adding files to the wrong zone sometimes, because of this switching issue.

Since the last few versions as well here is a screen shot of our HTPC (assuming all these lock ups/stopped working are due to auto import locks up mentioned earlier...HTPC gets library from server\Liege)

Library Server Sync does not currently support playlist deletion on clients.

Hopefully someday (but it's not a simple problem, so it may be a while).

As a result of this post, I tried switching Media Center's cover art option from being stored in a specific location to saving a Folder.jpg alongside the files.
  
I then used "save cover art to external location specified in options" on my library to create these files.
After about 30 or so items, the progress window disappeared and Windows thought that Media Center had frozen.
It had definitely not frozen, because the video I was playing at the time continued, and I could see a lot of disk activity in the Task Manager. After about five minutes it finished and I was able to use MC again.
 
 
Well, it turned out that this was a bad idea, because Media Center still doesn't know the files exist when you change the directory structure (I thought it might if MC had created them) leaving you with folders that have the old name, and only contain Folder.jpg
It would be nice if Media Center recognized these as sidecar files to prevent this from happening...
 
I'm also curious about performance; whether they will be loaded from that drive or cached on my boot drive. (an SSD)

I just wanted to say thanks again, it's really made a huge difference to the responsiveness of the UI.

Somewhat related, as you're making changes there, if I set the year to "00" when entering a date, it clears the date field rather than setting it to 2000.
 
It would be nice if you also supported Month/Year (for old albums, that's often all I can find for the release date) in addition to Date/Month/Year, and Year on its own.

sorry Matt for being the odd ball here... but all these playlists that keep coming back were made on the server and are located on the server. (all those you see in screenshot, and another pesty one i made that states New playlist i made back when Mr.C helped me to start diagnosing the audio analysis problem. If i force kill server, reboot server they just keep coming back.) right now only 1 server running in the whole house, all clients connect to server Liege.(which is the Main/whole house's library)

If you use sidecar images, they are not duplicated by MC.

However, in most areas of the programs you're viewing thumbnails (which essentially are a local copy of the image).

I've experienced the same thing (hangs/freezes when processing more than a handful of items) for a while with this function, and similar results from some other art-related actions that use modal windows (e.g. the "get artist images from Last.fm" option).  I wasn't sure if it was just me and my system, but it sounds like you're having the same problem.

This issue made attempting to do those kinds of library operations on large numbers of files very challenging, and caused (for me) some actual crashes.  The hangs are 100% repeatable, all I have to do is start an operation in JRiver on a large number of files, switch to another program (e.g. my browser), and come back to JRiver and it will hang. At which point I have no way of knowing when the operations will conclude, and sometimes they don't conclude: the hang becomes a crash, with an unknown amount of the selected action not completed.    

It required me to do some processing in very, very small batches, which is time-consuming for a large library. As you said, playback would continue on the currently playing item, but for me it always stops after the current song when it's hung like that (JRiver doesn't go on to the next item in the playlist).

Editing the "Number Plays" is only possible in the tag window and only then if "show all tags" is selected.  "Number Plays" while part of my view is not shown if "show tags in current view" is selected.

I cannot edit "Number Plays" in the track listing view grid like I can with other editable fields with F2 or a slow double click.

Just a suggestion: I think the new placeholder album artwork should be in a neutral monochrome color (I suggest black or grey), so that it goes well with all themes. Bright blue clashes with most darker themes.

I think it would get lost with a monochrome color on a dark theme. If anything, I'd like to see it red so that it stands out more. Ever notice how sometimes red objects look like they're "floating" on black like they're 3D? I think that would pop!

Theater view is hanging up when navigating the menus. Have to terminate the process and restart to get it back.
