Something is not as it should be. I now try to get sdr to work first bc it used to be ok. Now when I am playing a movie jriver also change the Lg oled tvs picture mode from filmmaker mode to expert dark mode. Is this a new feature or are something messed up?

I've seen that this problem has been reported several times going as far back as 2013. Subsequent versions of MC haven't fully addressed it, so I thought it would be helpful to anyone experiencing this issue to know the appropriate solution for Windows PCs. (This may also work on Mac, if Mac has an equivalent setting).

The problem is in Windows' own internal DPI scaling. In my case, I have 3 monitors. Monitor 1 and 2 (primary and secondary) are set to 125% scale at 4k. Monitor 3 is set to 100% at 1080p. I run MC on Monitor 3.

It seems MC is ignoring the 100% dpi setting on Monitor 3, and instead scaling based on Windows' 125% setting for the others.

Good news - this effect can be disabled.

Right-Click your MC shortcut and choose "properties"
Click the "compatibility" tab
Click "change high dpi settings" (a new dialog will open)
Put a checkmark in the bottom checkbox in the "high dpi scaling override" section.
Click the pulldown just below it, and choose "application"
Click OK to close the pop up dialog, then "apply" to close the original.
Finally if MC is running, close it
Now run MC.

When it opens, no more blurry text. Your fonts will be shown slightly larger than normal (scaling up to the setting for the primary monitor), but this can easily corrected by reducing their size in MC's fonts setting. Mine were originally set to Calibri 11, and scaled down nicely to Calibri 9.

Hope this helps someone!

Best,

Marc

I have an event that uses a Media Center playlist and an Amazon Music Unlimited playlist. It requires changing back and forth between the two sources. I have just switched between the two tabs in the past but thought split screen would be a bit handier. I have tried to use View/Split Screen/Show 2 Views but all I can get on the second (right hand) view is the Media Center Start screen. I have not been able to get both my playlist (or Playing Now) and Amazon Music up at the same time. If this is possible I would really appreciate if someone can take me through the steps.

Well, if you're outside the network did you forward the ports in your firewall/router? It won't work unless you do this and not doing this can cause these issues. And make sure you're using the access key to connect to the server unless you have a static IP address for the server. Trying to use a local IP address to connect outside the network won't work.

Hello,

Is there a shortcut key or media core command that allows access to the active tabs menu dropdown (screenshot attached)? I have reviewed the list of keyboard hotkeys and Media Center Core Commands but didn't find one listed. If this feature is not available, what is the process for requesting its inclusion in a future release?

So I am considering options:
1) rebuild MC server and buy a dedicated universal disc player (Magnetar 800, 900, Reavon 100, 200?) to play files and UHD discs (they take up too much HDD space in my view)
2) rebuild MC server and buy a nuc to play MC files, and maintain only a small UHD library on HDD

I would be really interested in what people think!

Thanks
Z

I had been using an Intel NUC as my HTPC for nearly 6 years, but it died a few weeks ago. Rather than repairing or replacing the NUC, I decided that it made more sense to just use my primary workstation as the HTPC. Like the NUC, it's located in our living room, along with all our AV kit. The only time the workstation is shut down is when I'm in bed.

My point here is that one computer is enough in many cases, and it need not have a lot of storage if you offload the media files to a NAS.

I have an Oppo 105 universal disc player (which can handle everything except UHD) but hardly ever use it. In my experience, there is nothing inferior about playing ripped media on a computer. I use MakeMKV to rip my Blu-rays and UHD Blu-rays, dBpoweramp to rip CDs, and SACD_Extract to rip SACDs. In each case, these rips are done at maximum quality, creating lossless copies of the original discs. I include subtitles in all my video rips, as my wife needs them, and never have any issues with them.

The chain I was using when testing the Lindy adapter was:

Music playing via MC on Windows 11 workstation > RTX 3070 > Lindy EDID > Denon X8500H AV amp > TV (not switched on)

The workstation has two monitors that I had been hoping could turn off after a period of inactivity without stopping the music if the Lindy had done its job.

No one answered, as a result I experimented and found the root cause and resolved it:
The JR DLNA server instance I created and was associated with my R26 was generic, I created another instance for 24-bit audio devices in accordance with the capability of my R26 and that solves the problem.

Thanks, but it can't be the router - the scenario happens when I leave my home's wifi range. Consistently. Requires a restart of JRemote on my iPhone, and then re-starting the music.

Do others use JRemote in this way? Play music on their phone, then leave home (and consequently their wifi connectivity, switching to cellular service)?

Seeing timed out messages like that sounds like a firewall either on your router or on the device you're using as the MC server is blocking it.
